2. Explore the Possibilities (3–4 minutes)
"One of the things I really enjoyed about our gathering was hearing about what everybody wants for their lives and discovering how much knowledge and experience we already have among us.

Did you leave feeling like there was something you might be able to do or explore that you hadn't thought about before?"

Listen.

Possibilities notes

"Was there anyone you heard from that you'd like to get to know better?"

If they identify someone, offer to help make an introduction with both people's permission.

"I think that's one of the exciting things about bringing people together. You never know what connections or possibilities might come out of a conversation."

Connection interests

3. Invite Them Into Membership (2 minutes)
"That's really why we're building this community.

We want people in [Community Name] to know one another, build relationships, share what they know, and work together to create more possibilities for themselves and their community.

And we'd love for you to be part of it.

One of the things we talked about during the experience is that movements require commitment, not moments.

It's the ongoing commitment of people that makes it possible to keep bringing people together, developing leaders, and building collective power.

That's why we invite people to become sustaining members of [Organization Name]."
4. Give Something You Can Forget About (3–4 minutes)
"You might remember [Member Name] talking about why they decided to put powerbuilding in their monthly budget.

I really like that way of thinking about it.

And we have a simple idea we share with people:

Give Something You Can Forget About.

What we mean is that we want people to make a monthly commitment they can comfortably sustain.

Something that fits into their lives and their budgets without becoming another thing they have to worry about.

For some people, that's $3 a month. For others, it's $10, $25, $100, or something else.

The amount is something you decide.

Because when enough of us make commitments we can sustain, those commitments come together to create the resources to keep building power in our community.

Would you be interested in becoming a sustaining member with a monthly contribution that works for you?"

STOP AND LISTEN. Give them time to answer.

Membership response

7. Close the Conversation (1 minute)

One of my favorite things about this experience is getting to know people and discovering what we might be able to build together.

I'm glad we got connected, and I look forward to [agreed-upon next step].

Thanks again, [Name]. Have a great rest of your day!"
